How we help

Touched by Christopher Ltd was established in July 2019 after the tragic death of Christopher Cassaniti, who was crushed by a collapsed scaffold at a Jobsite in Macquarie Park.  Christopher’s death touched many people in the community and the parents, Robert and Patrizia Cassaniti were overwhelmed by the outpouring of financial and emotional support. In turn they would like to give back to help families in the same situation that have lost a loved one in the construction industry.

In the infancy of the foundation the constitution states that they will help families affected by death on a construction site in New South Wales.  As bushfires ravaged throughout Australia late 2019 early 2020, Patrizia and Robert extended their constitution to include helping the families of the volunteer firefighters who lost their lives, trying to save others whilst on duty.

The Touched by Christopher Constitution will donate $20 per person within the household of the deceased, per day for 92 days in the form a Gift Voucher towards Groceries for either Coles or Woolworths and $1500 as a lump sum via a prepaid Visa Card to cover any outstanding bills such as Electricity, Gas, Water, Phone etc.

Based on an average family of 4, that equates to $5180 that will be donated by the foundation to each family that falls in the category of our constitution.

As the foundation grows and raises sufficient funds, we would like to extend on our constitution further.

Our first goal is to extend our constitution to also cover 92 days/3 Months’ worth of Mortgage or Rent.

The foundation would need a minimum of $200,000 in the bank to fulfil this goal.

Our second goal is to go national and cover construction site deaths nationally.

The Foundation would need a minimum of $360,000 in the bank to fulfil this goal.

Our third goal is to cover all deaths in the workplace nationally.

The Foundation would need a minimum of $2.5 million in the bank to fulfil this goal.

Most of our fundraising will be via events we have during the year, due to Covid19 our events in 2021 have been minimised but would like to see at least 4 events planned per year for Fundraising.

Throughout the year Patrizia Cassaniti (founder and director of Foundation) will be doing onsite toolbox talks where a collection box will be presented to raise funds for the foundation, as well as attending several Expos, where Patrizia will be a guest speaker and possibly have an exhibition stand available to promote the Foundation and raise funds.

The next Expo, Sydney Build Exhibition 2021 is scheduled for the 23rd and 24th of November at the ICC, where Patrizia has been asked to be a guest

Our events will be our main source of fundraising and all money raised and collected via donations, nett profit from ticket sales or entry fees to each activity, raffles, and auctions are 100% given to the foundation for its charitable purpose.

All our activities and events planned are targeted to individuals and companies that are mainly industry related and will benefit the families in need as per our constitution.

The Touched by Christopher Foundation will also affiliate with other charitable associations/organisations that are construction industry related and very relatable to our cause. They include Mates in Construction,  MATES is a charity established in 2008 to reduce the high level of suicide among Australian construction workers. They provide suicide prevention through community development programs on sites, and by supporting workers in need through case management and a 24/7 help line.

As well as Foundation House, which are an alcohol, drug and gambling treatment centre that offer 28-day residential rehab services and ongoing support through ongoing outpatient counselling and relapse prevention.
